TWIN WIPER ARM (PANTOGRAPH) FOR RH SIDE RHD

Gent's wonder of you can help here. I have noticed that my wiper right handblade once running quite often seems to go into the wrong position on the windscreen. (Turns anti clockwiseacross the screen the top section hits the base of the screen instead of remaining in a diagonal position)What could be causing this and how can I rectify it .

Sorry if this is a vague description but hopefully someone will know what I mean

    Hi Moray

Do you mean that the wiper slaps the base of the screen at the end of its cycle?

Check the locking tab-type washer at the blade-end of the arm, this has probably slipped round and is no longer holding the blade correctly - i have looked for pictures to help explain but can't find any - when you take a look it should become clear.

the tab has a dimple in it which should sit under a small pin-sized hole to secure it - but it does work loose.

Yes it does Dave, but the wiper blade rotates to far round which causes this. Can't see how to keep it swiping back and forward in the posituionit should stay in

I think this is a case where a couple of pics might be useful to explain your problem.

TWIN WIPER ARM (PANTOGRAPH) FOR RH SIDE RHD Query???

              Hi
Excuse my ignorance as this is my first post - I thought it best to reply to an existing one as I can't find how to start a new one!

Slightly different problem. Same thing happened to me and I fixed with electrical tape - not as neat I know, but now the toparm of the wiper seems to be broken where it fixed to the chrome gasket. My problem is I am not sure how it clipped on. Is there a rivet? Has this snapped?

Hard to explain so I've attached some photos.

Any help appreciated as the forecast is rain!IMG_0480.jpgIMG_0481.jpgIMG_0483.jpg

              Thanks

Thanks Dave - does it pop in from under the bracket into the wiper arm?
I presume that its snapped and a bit is stuck in.

                    Hi Mike
I repaired mine some years ago, but I recall that the cause of the blade rotating too far was excessive wear; the blade pin needs to be a tight fit; unfortunately I can't recall exactly what I did to repair it, but I hope someone else will be able to help.

You will have to take the whole thing off the car to repair, but I think I would just buy a replacement (try Wins in Sussex).

I understand exactly what you mean

The wiper blade is supposed to sit in a groved section of the wiper arm, there is then a sprung tab that is supposed to lock the wiper blade tight in this slot. Mines doesn't, never has and I have been through 3 different wiper arms in 14 years trying to get it fixed.

In the end a very small clear tie wrap did the job most discretely. I fitted the blade to the arm and then tie wrapped the two bits together. Lovely job, never had upside down blade since.

I do however have a minor issue with the blade slapping the bottom of the screen and running right up to the a-post edge. I just put up with that. Rythmic thrumb thrumb thrumb of the zorst coupled with the squeek donk sqeeeek donk of the wiper blades.

Hi Richard, you should be writing scripts for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, that's a brilliant description. Martin.

Welcome Ibesiano. You are off to a good start. Takes a little while to get used to the format. Just go to the front page of the forum, back one level from here, and you will see the Post New Thread Button, top and bottom of the page.
