Stags and Hairy Women!

It's not everyday you see 'very hairy women' mentioned in the sales particulars for a car. I'm tempted to buy it just to read the article! :shock:

Your supposed to buy the mag 'to read the articles' not the other way around

I'd spotted that as well! Also on the drivers side view there seems to be a colour mismatch between the door and the rear wing.

It generally looks ok apart from that and the bit the guy points out in the text. The engine bay is certainly tidier than mine!

i am keeping an eye on it as i may ebay mine, anyone had any experience of selling a classic on ebay

I have sold around 15cars on ebay, mostly Triumphs and never had a bit of trouble with non payers etc, even sold cars to Ireland, France and Slovenia !!

you need to put as much info on the listing as possible, loads ofphotos and be totally honest about the car and reason for sale...and always put a clause in about when you want the car gone by, and the fact you do not except bids from low feedback users, they must email first to ask permission to bid.

Ebay is great if you treat it like a business.

I've sold a couple of cars on Ebay, one sold without any problem and the other involved a complete idiot. However, I then offered it to one of the unsuccesful bidders (not the next highest bidder, but one with best feedback) and sold it. Seems to me that there is a lot more tat in the Classic Car listings than was once the case and some have more luck and less hassle with Pistonheads or Car and Classic both of which are free.

Last couple of cars i have sold (one modern, one Triumph) have been via Ebay, I got very disillusioned after 3 weeks in Autotrader with few enquiries (but plenty of canvassers) so gave Ebay a try.

It worked very well for me, i'd echo the earlier comment of being specific about payment/collection terms in the listing and being very open regarding conditions and reason for sale - but you can copy most of this from other sucessful listings. Make sure you set a sensible reserve - if it is too high you will really put people off, as a seller you will invariably over-value your car !
