Actually its a very rare prototype resulting from the collabroration between the Jaguar and Rover design teams when they both came under the Leyland umbrella.
The board passed it for production and plans were make to sell 10,000 a year (mainly to Iceland) but like so many good projects it was cancelled due to lack of money.

Ps its a pitythat photographs of the equally rare Stag / Range rover hybrid don't exist
I remember seeing a photo of a Stag on a 4WD Chassis somewhere a couple of years ago. It must of been on here or ebay. I have tried to find it, but this is the best I could come up with!
The body of that Range rover abortion is a Challenger jobby, they are quite popular as a quality install will see it in a line up of S1 / 1.5 E-types and leave most not even aware that it is a kit car.
I'd imagine that someone after a challenger would snap this one up and an old s3xj6 and make a mint.
The rest / remains could be weighed in or slap the xj6 body on the rr chassis and slap it back on the bay.
