Back on the road

Well after the run home from GT Yarmouth in January for the Norfolk Xmas party, and taking it of the road the following Monday I drove it home today from my workshop at work. New rear shocks & springs, rebuilt/rekitted steering rack, new recon set of carbs, N/S lower swivel, auto fluid change, new hard top seal and catches in w/screen frame and numerous other jobs including stripping the boot lid back to bare metal and repainting, it's not looking and running to bad. so can anyone explain why the Bl**dy electric aerial won't go down without a little help!!!!!!!!

Going for a decent shakedown run tomorrow to make sure all's OK, fingers crossed.

Could it be that the ferrule is a little tight? Otherwise try cleaning it and wiping it over with a rag soaked in 3-in-one or WD-40.

Hi Dave,

Done all that, all I did was park it up and work on the car. all the time the cars been at work I have had the front of the radio so it's not as if it's been going up and down every time I switched the ignition on. I'll take take it off if it don't cure itself and strip and clean it, hopefully that'll sort it.

I've got a degree in bent wire, bring it on up. Have you tried loosening off the ferrul and trying it ? When you say help, do you mean it goes down with a push? Martin.

You may have a degree mate but I live in London and we have wooden hangers down here!

Yep, push it a few inch's and it will go down.

I can't believe you said that Bob, that's not like you !
The aerials are bent, rotate each section between your fingers carefully and you'll find which one is bent, then some gentle manipulation may well sort it. (make what you will of that) Martin.

Well, 60 miles done and all seems well, Carrb's might need a bit more tweaking as the Idle speed seem's to come up a bit some times. only a 150 rpm or so but being an auto keeping it nice and low is better. And would you believe it the Electric Ariel has fixed it's self!!!!!!

Summer here we come.
