    Inserting Images

A short overview of one of the many different ways to put images into your posts. I don't personally like the www.photobucket method as it relies heavily on the original poster maintaining his photobucket album in its exact configuration for the rest of time - otherwise the dreaded red cross appears and no image is shown.

Firstly when you go to reply to a thread you will see this:

    Bild1.jpg

Select the little picture icon shown by the arrow.

You then get this screen: (sorry about the German as it's on my own PC at home!)

    Bild2.jpg

Click on Select Files and it opens this box:

    Bild5.jpg

Select the file you want and press the button ("Open" I think on an English PC).

Then this appears and you press the "Upload Files" button:

    Bild6.jpg

You will then get a preview showing your image in the thread posting box. If you look carefully, you will also see a Pencil or Crayon icon within the image (see arrow).

Click on this and a new dialogue will open where you can select the properties:

Hey Presto, there you have it! Play around and you'll soon get the hang of it!

          ???

You're sure your mouse isn't hovering over the world globe next to the picture symbol?

          Try "Go Advanced" button

How do I post a screen shot like you did? I'll show you what I see.

I hought I would try out Drew's suggestions. Nope, I get the URL nonsense, try advanced. Followed all the instructions, still nothing. try again, that seemed to have worked, am I the only one who can see it ? Also it looks VERY small. Martin.

I use a piece of software called 'Snagit' to do screen grabs. It allows you do do some nice effects like torn edges and drop shadows. I use it a lot at work when generating software training manuals. Costs about £40 but so good I bought myself a copy to use at home.

hmm, the forum has shrunk my image - the original was twice the size.

OK I think I have the answer for those only getting a URL option.

Click on settings in the top right of the screen, scroll down and in the My Settings panel on the lower left of the screen click general settings, then scroll down to miscellaneous options. Make sire you have the enhanced interface - full wysiwyg option set. You will then be able to insert images inline using the insert image icon. Also if like me you were missing the little "word like" icons in the advanced option, then this appears to fix that too.

Carl, Maybe you could blanket set everyone to be set to wysiwyg by default?
