I see some of you guys have wrapped the tubular manifold. Does it give any advantage apart from taking some heat out of the bay? Is it worth it? and how much wrap does it take? I believe it is about £30 for 15m.
It is difficult to say without trying with and without wrap, but it is supposed to help the exhaust gases maintain velocity and therefore improve flow and the extractor effect. I'm inclined to believe that for normal road use the effect is not huge, but as you say it is worthwhile just to keep the temperature down under the bonnet. You can actually hold on to the pipes with the wrap on with the engine running, so it is very good at insulating.
I started withtwo 15m lengths which wasn't quite enough so I bought another 25m and I have a little left over now.

I got mine on Ebay, £16 for 25 feet, one is enough for a manifold allowing for mess ups etc,
Its good stuff and does reduce heat but they are still too hot to touch, its just the air is cooler so therefore other things stay cooler.
Stuart
Thinking of wrapping my standard manifolds, have seen some on ebay 50mm x 3mm x 30m for £23, would 3mm be to thick tomanoeuvre round the manifold or should i go for the 1.5mm?
I presume Stuart used 50ft approx' to do both his?
I did use one roll per manifold, which was fine but It would have gone further if I hadn't had to cut it into lengths to fit onto the manifolds as they were insitu. very hard to try and wrap with 25m inside the engine bay !
