Hi all, I need to buy a new screen rubber seal to complete my respray. I've read on previous threads that they often dont fit & having to strech them etc. Has anyone bought one recently that fits ? Where from ?.......Thanks......

I had my screen fitted professionally a few years back and the fitter insisted I bought a 'Bains' make rubber. Try googling Bains.

I had a new screen and rubber after my respray, it was fitted professionally but the rubber was ordered by me from Paddocks and as far as I'm aware fitted fine.

Yep, mine was a Paddocks one as well and fitted fine. The most important thing those is whether you do it yourself or by a professional, fit the trim first, tape at the corners and leave for about a week. This assists with the shaping of the corners when fitting. Get a professional to do it as I only paid about £40 and get them to seal it well.

I ordered one from Paddocks and it fitted fine, 2 years later had the car painted and ordered another seal from Paddocks and used the same fitter, seal was too short and a really tight leaving gaps at each corner. Bought one from Rimmers which was a bit longer but still not a great fit so took it back to Rimmers and they sorted through their stock and found me the longest one they had which fitted fine. Bags for the seals had the same supplier details on them so it looks like a QC issue at the suppliers. I rang round all the Stag parts suppliers and was told that they all sourced them from the same place but cant remember the name of the main supplier.

Hi, it seems there was a large batch of seals going around that were too small, Wards sent their stock back and they were replaced with the right one, mine came from them and after two years it's still waterproof. Autoglass fitted the previous one using the small seal and it leaked behind the dash, also they'd disguised the corners with sealant, a proper bodge. Martin.

Quick question - are you talking about the rubber length of 'lip' that runs along the width of the door to stop rain from coming into the door cavity (on the inside its a furry length across the width)?

If not I apologise for creating a tangent

If so - or if it might add to the debate - how easy are these 'lip' lengths to fit? They must have a solid footing because that electric window pulls up and down on it when you use it. Mine needs replacing but it'd be good if I could fit the thing myself.

Thanks for all the replies..... Have ordered one from Paddocks. He said that they all come from the same supplier so fingers crossed I'll get a good one !! I dont intend to do the fitting myself, I want it right the first time !!!
