Significantly Troublesome Arse Grapes!
Anyway, proctological issues aside, I carried out a nut and bolt restoration on a Lotus Eclat before swapping it for my Stag. I found the glass-fibre body excellent and the galvanised chassis a dream!
The engine was robust and very easy to work on as long as you followed instructions and used liner clamps if you took the cylinder head off, however the interior and specifically the dash appeared to be built around the heater matrix! The Stag interior is much better in this instance.
Also, removal of the prop-shaft required removal of the engine and gearbox, and the rear suspension was a complicated inter-linked series of arms, bolts and rods based on a 1960's racing car design. Brilliant but complicated.
It was a great car, went like a rocket and handled fantastically, however it was a hard-top and without power steering, was a bast@rd to drive in slow traffic.Attached FilesLast edited by stoutgoose; 5 March 2011, 20:44.
