took stag for run today to try out the new wind deflector. nice improvement. when sitting still, the electric fan kicked in, and it sounded like the fanbelt was slipping.[new fanbelt] the temp went up above its normal position. re-adjusted fanbelt when got back. went for another trip, car run hot ,and it continued to shriek.had this before on other cars, turned out to be water pump, is this what can happen on stag

No, the stag does not have a fan belt as such, and the water pump is not belt driven, it is driven by internal gears/chains.
When the electric fan starts, this puts an electrical load on the alternator which in turn mechanically loads the alternator pulley; in this situation the belt can slip casing a screeching noise. The electric fan may then run slower.
If the engine is overheating and there is a screeching noise your viscous coupling may have failed (if still fitted); this is a common problem.Last edited by V Mad; 7 March 2011, 20:31.
