Rear seat foam

Dear All

Does anyone know if you can still get replacement rear seat foams?
I've looked on Rimmers website, and most of the other usual suppliers but no luck.
I need a foam for base of rear seat.

Hi Andrew, your best bet is an autojumble, they go for next to nothing as there's no demand. Have you tried the forum "Wanted and For Sale" section ? Martin.

If all else fails.Buy some foam of the apprpriate thickness and make your own.I was speaking to a local trimmer on this matter last week.We discussed the shaping of foam.He mentioned he has been told some people get a thick piece of wire and with a suitable insulated U shaped handle connect either end to a battery.This has the effect of making the wire hot which slices thrugh foam like a hot knife through butter.I haven't tried this yet but intend to or heat said wire over a camping cooker -outside of course due to fumes.Small pieces of foam can of course be joined with aerosol adhesive.

I have found that my old electric carving knife cuts thick foam with ease and it is also very easy to shape the foam with it. Worked for me anyway.

It doesn't even have to be an old electric carving knife. The foam does not melt onto the knife or anything like that. Probably much cleaner than what it is normally used for. You either convince SWMBO or don't tell.

Perhaps something for SOCTFL to consider - my rear seat is also knackered.

Should be plent of reasonable used ones, but for new, have you tried Alridge Trimming or Jim at SE Trimming?

Hi Andrew,

I've got one you can have if you want. It doesn't look brilliant (with the cover on you'd never notice) but it's the right shape and is intact - no crumbling etc.

You can have it for nothing (maybe just make a donation to a cancer charity) although I may have to ask you to pay the carriage as I haven't got a clue how much it would cost.

Thanks to all for their suggestions and to Julian for the offer, but as I've found out that I can get a new one from Aldridge Trimmers I'm going to go for that.
