    anti freeze leak

MY early mk2 is dropping a 50p size drop of anti freeze on the garage floor directly below the clutch slave cylinder plus whatever it looses whilst on the road. my first thought was the connections for the heater at the bulkhead but these are completely dry with no tell tale staining. have looked underneath from the front and cannot see any leaks from the radiator or front hoses blowing back down the chassis. is there anything on the back of the engine that could be leaking? all help appreciated

    thanks derek

Mine leaked from where the temperature sensor screws into the transfer housing at the back on the head. Took me ages to find it.

Is the top of the block dry, under the inlet manifold? If it is, then it is probably a head gasket leak. Water in the V tends to run off the starter motor side. First two options are a dose of Kseal, and a retorque of the cylinder heads. If the engine has standard gaskets they tend to compress over time leaving the head studs loose, and retorquing can sometimes save the situation, and nothing needs dismantling to do it. K seal seems to stop most leaks, has worked wonders in SWMBO,s Rover 75

I would check the temperature sensor before messing about with cylinder heads.

I had a leak from the transfer housing on the LH head, had it refaced to cure.

"K Seal" the wonder product, not to be confused with other products on the self that claim they stop small leak's

Used it on my Stag with excellent results rather than take the manifold off again and was recently used on my recommendation in a Mk11 Golf with the heater matrix leaking, perfect now.

I keep a spare bottle in the boot now just in case.
