    Help please...

I want to try and make my Stag paint work look better than it currently does, what it really needs is a complete respray, however that is not going to happen.
It currently is dull and life less, blotchy and faded.
So with very little money but a good pair of willing hands, what is the best products to use and the best methods.

    Any advice is welcome.
    Thank you,
    Andrew.

Hi Andrew, first, can you afford to invest in a mains polishing machine ? If so, come back, If not, roll your sleeves up ! What you need to do is remove "dead" paint. There are a lot of products about, but a great many of them are too vicious. I would start with T Cut, then Auto Glym paint renovator, then Auto Glym Resin Polish, then a good quality Carnuba wax, eg Maguires. You'll probably find that the first attempt with T Cut will leave it blotchy, just repeat till it's even, it'll even start the shine for you. All you're doing is using reducing grades of fine abrasive till you get to the wax. It's not easy, but the result will make you grin, and it's not expensive. Personally I enjoy this kind of stuff, it's part of the pleasure of owning a special car. Good luck. Martin.

        Hi Andrew,

I am assuming the paintwork is the original paint...? Just check it has nort been re-sprayed at some point with anything other than cellulose like the original in a e. g. 2 pack finish as this will not take kindly to any form of abrasive.
If it is 2 pack the best bet is some reall elbow wax with AutoGlym polish, you cannot beat it.
        Good luck!

The easy way to tell, is to polish a small area and see if colour comes off on the cloth, if it does, it's cellulose. Martin.

The colour T-Cut is good, used the red T-Cut recently on a VW Golf that had gone that pinky colour, brought the red colour back a treat, lots of elbow grease and to finish off I used Mer polish.

              To All,
Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how it goes.
With the weather like it is I certainly don't have any excuses for not getting out there.

              Andrew.
