Your muscles will be working overtime when you come to fitting the pop rivet on the second side! The bar is under tension once it is fitted.

        Martin,
The holes measure 7/32" or 5.5mm so a 4.6mm or 3/16" rivet is required, the thickness of materials to be fastened is no more than 3mm or 1/8" but the rivets I obtained from Paddocks where, as I recall a good 1/2" to 5/8" long, well oversize, but they worked, so its your call.

Is the bonnet pad retaining bar solid or tubular? I was thinking of buying a suitable length of 15mm chromed copper pipe from a plumber's merchant and flattening the ends to give this look.

Hiya, it's hollow, but it's also curved, I have a feeling that when you crush the ends, the seam may well open up. Martin.

I used 15mm stainless steel tubing.

That bonnet pad looks great. Is that SOCTF and does it have to be shipped flat? Bit of a problem getting one shipped down-under!

Yes and Yes. I am sure the suppliers will be able to advise on shipping, but it is a large, flat box.
