Well it seemed like a good idea at the time, but as the hood was covered in filler dust I gave it a good hosing off this morning and left it to dry in the sun.
However when I tried to refit it this evening, it soon became apparent that the once slack and baggy hood was now at least two inches too short to clip it down at the back, and no amount of adjustment of the hood frame mounting bolts was going to help.
In the end I had to clip down the rear of the hood first, then climb onto the front bulkhead and sit on the front rail of the hood to get the front locking pins into the screen frame.
My 11 stone weight was nearly not enough, but a bit of wriggling and bouncing up and down eventually got the job done
Hopefully things will stretch a bit over the next few weeks, I don't think I could face the embarrassement of doing that in public
