Items for sale/Items wanted

I have joined in with many forums for different marques over the years and something I have always found useful is the Items for sale/Items wanted section. Most of us have something we don't need & indeed normally want that certain something.

Just testing the water here but does anyone else think this would be a good idea?

Also I for one would find a loan-exchange part system very handy....

I want to get my rear bumper quarters rechromed before the Popham event on May bank holiday.... but I still want to drive my car while they are away and I don't want it to look like a rat-car

It would be great for instance to borrow an old pair of quarters to either get rechromed and swap them over for mine, or to temporarily fit while mine are gone....

The same could be said for any part that is commonly re-conditioned and would normally incur a surcharge...

Obviously trust could be an issue, but I think we are reasonably honest blokes...

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a grand idea. Posts would need some sort of expiry date or method of removal after an item has changed hands though.

A scheme like this is long overdue, and would be another great membership benefit!

Agreed a good idea. Only problem will be the removal of items when sold, as I assume only Carl has the ability to delete posting's. Maybe he would be able to set up a system where by the advert/posting has a "life" of, say, 10 days and would then be auto deleted with the seller able to repost the advert if the item was unsold.

Good to see you read the forum. The forum is increasingly having ads posted and it would be an advantage to have them all in one place where they could be easily found or browsed. Also I know from committee meetings and AGM's in the past that I have attended it was decided that the Mag was to be the main contact with members, which I agree with as everybody reads the Mag and only a handful use the forum. But the forum has grown over the past year and surely it would be good now to bounce topics between the two which would give the much wanted articles for the Mag. Perhaps you could also raise this at the meeting.

Are you coming to Brands? It might also be South East Regional Day

Mmmm ... just me not voting for this then! Dont get me wrong -I think the availability of a facility to post my wants/needs is paramount - it's just that does it warranta separate section?

On this thread I've learnt that Russ wants to borrow some rear bumpers and so has everyone else. Had this been in a separate section I may not have picked up on this so readily (not that I can help anyway - sorry Russ).

So my point is - if it's posted on this forum, I'll read it, and I guess everyone else does the same.ergo, if I can help -I will -regardless of where its posted.

We've, kind of, established that it's ok to sell stuff via this medium and wants/needs sort of fall into the same category (Non technical, non observatory)and, if you need to remind yourself of something that was posted previously, a quick search will find that item thereby obviating the need for another section.

Hope this makes sense - its far to early for me to be awake but someone was ringing the door bell and got meup!!
