Rimmer's service... not what i was expecting..

Recently ordered a new bottom hose from rimmer’s for the radiator, whilst i was at it i ordered two jubilee clips as well. (only £1 each).
Package turned up hose o.k. but one of the jubilee clips was appalling to say the least, i had to put in a vice and use a torch wrench to try to get the thread to move, which it didn’t and just bent!!! Have now put the hose on with the old jubilee clips ...
When i called Rimmers to advise them what happened i was i little shocked at the response ‘its not our fault, it the purchasing department...(hey you are the same company to the customer!!!) .
The guy on the phone didn’t apologise or even offer to refund/send replacement, not bothered about cost as it’s only a £1, it’s their whole attitude as if it was complaining about nothing and it was more or less my fault.
I must say that Rimmer’s have always been helpful in the past, not sure i will be putting any more business their way, can anybody recommend another parts supplier??

I think most members on here will recommend them.

I have always found Rimmers helpful. As a firm they have helped keep all types of Triumphs on the road. No ones perfect. I would suggest the phone guy was having a bad day. Mebbe his TR7 broke down on the way to work!
Send a nice email to the MD and I bet you get your hose clip by return!

      Cheers Johny

I never had much problems with Rimmers appart from a crap diff, and all in all they were pretty helpfull, but their prices were way more than others and that coupled with the postage to my location, did not make economic sense. I did speak to MD and he said that he would match anyone elses prices, by that time I had spend a bundle with them. Needless to say the last time I bought parts and mentioned this I was told that they did not have any special offers by the guy I spoke with.
Slowly I have turned to JP for most of my bits now and to date I have had no bother or hassle. Dead friendly on the phone to, although I would still use RB if they were a bit more compedative.

Just had a good response from Rimmers. Amongst a load of stuff that I ordered back in November was the bolt for the exhaust bracket that goes into the bottom of the overdrive. I had ordered the UNF one as in their parts list but, of course its a UNC bolt that's needed. I sent them an email on Thursday evening explaining what had happened and a couple of UNC ones turned up this morning FOC.
