New Zealand, importing a Stag

I guess there's only going to be one or two of you out there who can answer this....

I'm emigrating to NZ (I hope) and want to take the Stag with me, I know it has to be compliance tested and registered, but I was wondering if you know if there are any particular pitfalls to look out for in the testing of Stags. I'm thinking of things like non-original rear seat belts. Any hints greatly appreciated.

Remove the rear seat belts before you export it. Lob them in the boot and refit once it has been accepted.

a freind imported a custom car back to NZ, make sure all numbers on the log book match, as his was held for ages in customs, because the engine number didnt match

When I imported mine into Tenerife I was told to remove the extra Spot Lights I had fitted, but the new non-Stag alloys (with wider tyres) they didn't bother about.
Also had to clean up the engine so they could photograph the engine number on the block, and I also had to "imprint" the chassis number into the bodywork as a plate inside the door was not acceptable to them.
Don't know if that is any good to you as New Zealand is not Tenerife.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Terry, a few months ago I put back the original chassis no plate to replace the new one a previous owner had made. PO had re-done the plate without the A suffix which was kind of logical as the car had been converted to manual but would probably have caused confusion with MoTs and DVLA!

Another thing I forgot to mention was that if you have a U.K. "Cherished" Number Plate,
sell it before you go otherwise it will go into a "Black Hole" and be lost to everyone.
