    Beat the Tax Increase

I've had the Stag SORNed for five months during winter. Taxed today to start in April and it's still at the old price of £205. Anyone buying the same from Friday will pay £215.
Not as good as Historic Vehicle price but it looks like it will be a few years yet before we are likely to fall into that band.

    Very useful, thanks.
I am surprised you were able to tax your car before the 'start date'....as I have been refused when trying to do this before....did you tax in the post office or online?

Buy on line and you can tax upto three weeks before the due date. Just received our GT6 tax disc for £205 in the post today.

Unfortunately the Nissan will be £215 next month and the Stag £215 the month after When we purchase our next project it will definitely be a tax exempt pre 1973 car as I cannot face paying four lots of vehicle tax per annum

Taxed at the post office. If you are on SORN you can do this two working days before the beginning of the month. If you are already taxed and have the reminder you can buy it two weeks before.

Hear hear Seaking, just renewed mine yesterday and I only do 1000 miles a year. My daily car does 25,000 a year and costs £145 a year to tax - where's the logic in that?

Good call Mark, I think it will be a bit of a lottery though as last time the post mistress insisted it would be the new rate. I'll find out tomorrow.

Thats what happened to me Bob last year. Doing it on-line is quick and so simple, even I could do it!

I've just keyed the details in on line & I can only tax it from 1st March so I will try my luck with Herr Post Mistress tomorrow.

Just tried to do mine, Tax ran out end of Feb, so SORN'd it and intended to tax from 1st April. Stupid b****y DVLA computer will not allow me to re-tax it from April, wants me to tax it from MARCH - No way!!

Looks like a visit to the Post Office for her indoors.....

Managed the retax at p.o. after winter sorn this morning. As Mark says up to 2 days before April is allowed for an April disc if it was sorned. £112:50 6 mths

                              Thanks for the tip-off.
