Bit of a leak in the rain :(

Evening All,

On the way back from Somerset on Sunday, the heavens opened a few times

I was getting water coming through under the front rail of the soft top, and puddling on the header capping. When i went round a corner it streamed off straight onto my lap

Looks like I need new seals, but where is the best place to buy them from? I see Paddocks do a seal kit, has anyone used this, and do they fit ok?

Hi Al, I don't know about the Paddocks one, but I can vouch for the Wards one. Paddocks are probably OK. Fitting is a bit fussy and time consuming but well worth the effort. Martin.

Talking about rain on Sunday we were also out and about when the heavens opened. On the way home from Rudyard Lake there was an enormous storm plus lightening and lots of localised flooding on the roads.

The Stag coped well apart from the fact that I discovered I need to replace the wiper switch as it is very tempermental

i had paddocks they fitted perfect.

Is the front of your hood pulling down properly when you close the levers at the front? Could it be that the brass catches for the front levers are worn?

@ Dave - I believe so, as they are fairly stiff to turn once engaged.

Al, try also using some sealant along the front edge of the seal retainer as water can get under that.

If you are replacing the seal you should replace the brass locking plates as well
that way you will get the best fit
Those brass plates do wear
Did mine last year got them from wards , were a doddle to fit ( I paid Mick ward to do it )

I bought a pair a couple of years ago, I can't remember where from off hand, but they were a rubbish finish and were not the same dimensions so I chucked them in the bottom of my spares box where they remain, and will do for some considerable time. The originals were better!
