Re-fitting B-Post Interior Trim

Is there a knack to refitting the interior B-Post Trim?

My job for the evening was to reinstall the rear cubbies and seat back into the car as it has been floating around for a few weeks waiting for me to get around to it.

Having completed this, I started looking into the hole where the Heated Rear Window contacts should be... The replacement part has been in my spares box for at least two years. To quote Jeremy Clarkson "How hard can it be?" !

Can I get the damn trim back on, not on your nelly!

Any tips to make this easier? The waether forecast is good this week I want to drive it!!!!

losen the bolt for the t-bar then the b post plate will slide in

Hi Dave,

I meant the trim piece that runs all the way up the B Post inside the car that is the same colour as the seats. I worked out the trick of loosening the T bar bolt to get the top chrome trim on earlier .

Just venting my frustration really, I will have another go tomorrow - it isn't going to beat me!!! Now where's that big hammer...

Hi Dave,

I've had mine on and off a few times and, sorry to say, they've usually gone back on ok. However, just a couple of thoughts:

As Dave says, you probably will need to loosen the T bar as the top of the trim goes underneath IIRC.
There are three clips but they can swivel round and then get misaligned with the holes in the bodywork and it's a bit of a bugger to see exactly how they're lined up.
Obviously, there's a small chrome screw right at the bottom.
I seem to remember that where it tucks round the back of the B post, it goes very tight to the horseshoe shaped hardtop retainers - I think I had these off one time I refitted the B post cover so it might be worth removing them (2x 7/16"AF nuts but can be a bugger to get to !)

Anyway, good luck, I'm sure you'll crack it

Well I got it back together, but it really was one of those frustrating jobs that everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

With a bit more care than I exercised yesterday I managed to get the trim back on. After that, could I get the seat belt bolt back in. Grr. Without the various washers and spacers no problem at all, but with the bits and bobs on it was really stubborn. I think it must have taken me 15-20 mins to get that one bolt in.

Finally I went to put the chrome strip back on the rear of the B Post - the one held on by three screws. I had a new scratch free one ready to go on. The bottom screw was really stubborn... and the flipping head snapped off the screw. At that point I gave up and went for a burble!

Forgot to warn you about the heads snapping off the little screws - me also !
