And secondly I fitted new power searing hoses when I put the pump back but they are now catching on the lower knuckle of the steering shaft I have the pipes going over the top of the shaft and under the manifold is this right ?I cant see how else they could go

John ,you will probily find your power steering hoses aren't quite the same as your old ones ,i had that but they are bendable with care. The best thing to do is match them up with your old ones before fitting but I guess that ship has sailed by now.

    Cheers Steve

        Hi John,

I found that I had to carefully bend my new power steering hoses too in order to get a good clearance. They have been fine since.

Hiya John, assuming your steering pump has a nut on the front, you can turn the engine over by pressing down on the top run of the belt, and using a spanner on the pump. Martin.

              Ditto.

And Martin's idea worked for me as well.

              Cheers
