tan seats

re my earlier post looking for a drivers seat which has resulted in zero possibilities I have a plan B

chap on ebay (les clark - anyone know him?) will sell me a passenger seat and my friendly trimmer can used the parts to refurb my drivers seat.

is this a good plan?

Sounds like a reasonable plan to me.

Les clark is a well known Stag Breaker. Often a good source of second hand parts.

Are they not handed as in the hole for the seat tilt or is he going to repair your old one with it?

seat bases are definately handed - I know because I fell into this trap. Even taking the seat cover off doesn't wprk because the holes in the cover on the left and the right side are in different places so when you try and swap the covers between leaft and right seats a) they are different shapes; and b) you end up with a hole in the cover (which is visible) infront of the new hole for the seat back rake adjustment handle. So I would say don't even try........ hang on til one pops up for sale, or save your pannies and buy new covers..............

Or option c, fit one of the seats from another make of car and dye it to match.

What Tan are you looking for ?

I have just removed a Tan interior from my Stag (With interesting Showbiz celebrity history !!)

Mine is called Tan. Not the dark chestnut ? saddle tan colour or the very light fawn-clay colour.

I would want to sell it as a whole.It includes all of the vinyl including :- door cards, rear cubbies and tonneau.
I would say it is reasonable condition although some idiot at some time has cut holes in the rear cubbies for speakers- approx 6".

The base of the drivers seat has had a panel put in by my local trimmer but it is really hard to tell.There is also a tear in the drivers seat base but this is along one of the seams where the side base meet the basket weave centre approx 2" long.This could be reinforced from behind by a trimmer invisibly.The whole set has been thoroughly cleaned and looked really good before I removed them in favour of a leather set I got from flea bay.
The only things missing from the set are the door handles as these have been covered in leather.If your interior is the same Tan as mine you will already have these I expect.

I'm going for the seat from Les tomorrow and will see what my trimmer can do with the parts on Friday. Fingers crossed.

Hmm, got them and they are OK but not great, I'll take them to my trimmer tomorrow and see what he can do.

meanwhile plan C is worth a look
