Brakes Servo oh my oh my

    Hello all,

I am currently (this coming weekend) going to investigate a loss of brake fluid (previous post) from the master cylinder (where else) and was wondering, if the fluid has leaked into the servo, does this damage the unit as i have no idea what is within the unit.

So if it is damaged, can the unit be refurbished? or is a new unit required.

    Rob.

Hi Rob, no, brake fluid won't damage the servo. Assuming one of the rear cylinder seals hasn't failed and is letting the fluid into the drum, it sounds like failed seals in the master, you can get seal kits to repair them, but often the bores are corroded and it's a wasted exercise. When you get the master and servo off, just pour the fluid out. Good luck, Martin.
