Battery , Need help

Hi,

Help/advise needed please.
Picked up a Battery HB072 (code on the Halfords' battery in the Stag) from Halfords asked if it was the same size, yes I was told!!!

Battery to tall can not get bracket over battery.

Will take battery back tomorrow and see if I can get my money back!!!

Anyone know a Battery code size that fits at a national shop Halfords etc.

Colin,
Batteries come in two distinct styles - Flat Top and T-Top. Both are often listed under the same number. The Flat Top is the style that fits the Stag best. Could be you have been sold the wrong style.

Just been to check mine as I bought a Halfords battery last year - the code on mine is HCB072.

The clamp is tight to get on - but it does fit.

The one I bought on Sat. is HB072 so I think DJT is right, Dave is your battery a flat top? Your code is HCB not HB so maybe HCB = flat top?

Hi Ian/Andy,

That was my first thought but on Halfords website there is a HCB072 and HB072 but they are the same size and Dave fitted his HCB last year. My new one is about 1/2 inch to tall
I can not get the long thread though the bracket so can not put the nut on. My old battery HB072 had a lip on the front which was about 1 - 1 1/2 lower than the back.

Apparently the HCB model is slightly smaller in size then the HB model.

Hi Dave,
Many thanks for that and I took a look at LD Parts Battery list and size.
Unipart sell a battery GBA3072 which fits. Phoned Unipart and they confirmed size and they still make it!!!
