Drag Link

Just passed it's MOT today with a couple of advisories.' Offside and nearside front drag link ball joints showing slight play'. Last year, at the same garage the advisories were, 'slight play on inner steering rack ball joints'. My daft question is, what are the drag links and as I did nothing about the steering rack play last year, would the symptoms be the same.
Also my emissions are:- CO < 4.50, Actual Value 2.06 % Vol
HC < 1200, Actual Value 151 ppm Vol
Can anyone tell me whether these are good, bad or indifferent, Thanks Terry

Mine failedon inner steering rack ball joints brought these from peter ld parts Tie Rod Inner Ball Joint Polyurethane Shim Kit 158732P plus tab washers took about 45 mins to do both sides amazing the diffrence and also do not forget to get retracked as makes a lot of diffrence

Terry,
I guess they are referring to the bottom ball joints - I would refer to them as the track control arm ball joints, not the drag links. However the drag link is connected to the track control arm so I guess it can be confusing.

In respect of your emmissions then 2% is pretty good in my view. Some cars will run at a slightly higher value but if it were my car and it was running well I would leave it alone. The hydrocarbon figure is very good and shows that your engine is burning fuel fairly efficiently for a Stag. Worst car I ever had was a BMW 320i which struggled to get under 1200 each MOT!
