Are they easy to fit as I've got a set I haven't got around to fitting yet.

There are many different views on the pro's / con's and how to fit mudflaps; essentially anything that can be done to stop retention of muck / dampness between the mudflap and body and around the mountings will help prevent the onset of corrosion. Many prefer the Cannon type clamps that avoid the need to drill, however I bolted mine on, rust prevention applied after drilling and nylon washers/silicon sealant; the mudflaps sit about 1/8" clear of the wheel arch.

I fitted a pair of these but used some stainless steel clamps that I got off ebay - saves any drilling.

How do these clamps work? I have them but am at a loss as to how to fit them??? they don't seem to fit on the lip of the arch if thats where they are suppose to go.

Bit hard to explain! I'll try and take an image a bit later.

                        Hi,

For those of you who are restoring your car just now. I did the following during the restoration of my TR7. I welded bolts on to the wheel arches for fitting the mud flaps and gave them the full paint/anti stone chip treatment when painting the car - result no rust or damage to the paint and the flaps sit a few mm off the body.

fitted mine on the rear with some brackets left over from a home diy job! essentially they were a miniature G clamp with the front of the clamp over the inner edge of the mud flap and the rear with the threaded bolt part clamps to the inside of the arch. I seem to remember it was a tad fiddly but worth it and didn't have to drill holes.the logo does wear off after a time and washed the car couple of weeks ago and it was coming off with the water !! I have another set to fit to the front at some time and these have the stag logo impressed into the rubber but no white print on them which is probably a better long term idea.

Fitted the mud flaps on Friday with some mud flap clamps I bought off E-Bay , not a bad job and I thought they looked good, until I thought , right thats it just give them a quick wipe to get them looking good.Wiped them over and guess what the Stag transfer came off the bloody things, what crap. The flaps are ok but that transfer is next to useless, so had to get a rag with some petrol on it and give them a wipe to remove the rest of the transfer, and it was just one wipe, so they wouldn't have stayed on long anyway, be warned before buying

Shoot me down for being a nerd but I don't like mudflaps on the Stag - I think they spoil the car's lines.
