    Shagg Pile Question

    Just a quickie...
Has anyone fitted carpets from Carrelli Carpets
I need to source new ones and have been looking at the Aldridge and other options. After discounting a few with pointers from other members
These are suppose to be hand made and bound edges to a good standard.
I have seen some good reports from the MG owners but wondered if anyone here had fitted some.
Tech Autos (Ebay) supply them but I can't find a link anywhere to a Uk site for the manufacturer, although they are stated as UK made??
I have spoken to Aldridge too as an option and they will sort me out within a week or so, for those who have fitted them.. do their sets have bound edges on the viewable sections?
    Cheers

    Hi Glyn

I've fitted Aldridge's wool carpets and I'm well pleased with them - apart from having got oil and paint all over them (& they're champagne coloured )

However, all edges are simply folded over and glued behind - there's no stitching or binding at all.

    Cheers

just fitted a set of wool from Aldridge last weekend and very please with the result, you do have to trim them to fit around the inner sills at base of the A post and a bit of manoeuvring at the rear heel board is required but it's a simple job. the centre tunnel section is a real beefy affair with lots of padding and fits straight in,as do the front and rear well sections.as Julian says they are not bound at the edges just folded and glued but look fine anyway.mine are black and they have really finished the cabin off as the old ones were synthetic and had faded over the years,be careful you mark the location of all the fixing holes for door trims, parcel shelf and seat belt centre binnacle as it is a pig of a job to line everything up and get the screws to take through the new carpets due to the extra density.I had carpet samples from lots of places before settling on these and prices range considerably, you can buy the carpet on a roll and pay up to 50 quid a metre for the best stuff but be careful as the thicker the stuff is the more difficult it will be to shape around the dodgy bits.I did try my local auto upholsterers and had a price of around £50 per metre for wilton but they would not fit it as they would not be able to bend it round the contours so be wary.

          Cheers Dean
I'll have a look at them before I make the order
I reckon another week of hard labour finishing off the floor and cleaning up to underneath(wifey permitting) and the refit will begin, can't wait. Probably just in time for a bit of rain!!!
I need to paint the inside now, did you do yours body colour or use something tougher?
          Cheers
