    Oil leaking again!!

Hi ive got a oil leak again from either the oil transfer housing or pump, ( these had new seals etc only 6 months ago) i ve had a quick look and the oil pump lower bolt head seems soaked in oil, ? could oil be leaking down the mounting bolt, the seals look pretty slim and delicate for both the pump and housing, has any one used any sort of sealant on them as well as the seals, and how the hell do you remove the front exaust pipe with out dimanttling the car!! ( is it better to remove the manifold ), any help on this would be very welcome, as im getting feed up with constant oil leaks, and brused knuckles trying to get to things down there.

    many thanks steve

    Hi Steve
The oil transfer housing seals can be done without removing the exhaust, its a bit of a pain,I think I used a long extension bar at an angle if my memories correct, sometimes oil can come out the middle of the oil pressure switch when it comes loose from the outer part so might be worth checking that to.

hi Mark, thanks for the advice, it was not the switch but the connection for the presure pipe, with so many seals and small connections in that area its never easy to find the leak. any way leak now stopped, i cant believe that it was such a simple fix, normaly on my car everything requires major surgery.

      regards steve

What oil pump have you got fitted ? standard or SAAb high pressure?

I ask because I had the saab pump fitted to my rebuilt engine (a hangover from the dark days of very low oil pressure) problem was that the pressure was over 70psi and I was blowing oil all over the place. Fitted the standard pump and it is running at max 50psi. Hardly a drop has leaked since
