Door Handles

What is the difference between a MK1 door handle and a MK2 handle? I have looked at the drawings on the rimmer site and the bowl is the same part number so where does the difference lye?

I am watching a MK1 handle on E bay as my drivers side one is cr*p, and until I have found out the feasibilty of having the handles made from Stainless I want to fit a better one. However my car is MK2 and the one on e bay is Mk1 will it fit?

The linkage is differant just take yours off and put it on the new bowl.

I did this a a long time ago and as far as I remember I don't think you will be able to swap the mechanism from the back of the mk2 handle to the mk1 as it pivots in a different position. The mk2 has a longerpost in the casting for this pivot location, the post on a mk1 will be too short.

I was fitting a mk1 mechanism to a mk2 handle so it was easy enough to drill the pivot point in the right position lower down the post.

Repro bowls will have the long post so can be used on mk1 and mk2s hence the same part number.
