Thanks for your input Tony, good to hear that the position most of us have chosen is the best.

My car is fitted with 3 point static belts in the rear of the car. The mounting points appear to have been installed during manufacture. The other Australian complianced Stags that I have seen have identical mountings. The two lower lap mounting points are in the same location as the UK Stags, the third upper shoulder mounting point is located just forward of the shock absorber mount. The attached photos show the position and type of mounting point on my car.

The third point certainly looks OEM, I remember you posting pictures before, however I recall the lower mounting point in a photo you have posted in the past is not actually the same position as UK stags. UK stags having this point inline with the throw of the wheel, Australian stags this point is further around the wheel-well not in throw of the wheel?

I think this relates to the age of the car, not its intended market. The Seatbelt anchors on the wheel arch on mine are around on the 'corner' of the wheelarch. Not a lot of use there though! I have bought a pair of anchor plates and I will get them welded on at some point so I can install rear belts.

Thanks Raoul, as a matter of interest were rear belts mandatory on Stags in Australia? Your picture clearly shows the shock mounting reinforcement, I fitted my mounting just behind the shock and through the plate making use of the thickness - have to get right position as the plate doesn't completely hug the body shell.

              Hi Paul,
I believe rear seat belts were compolsory in Australia, prior to the UK. "Wiki" states they were made compulsory in Victoria in 1964. my January 1977 car was originally exported to Victoria although it has happily resided in Queensland for the past 10 years. The state laws in Australia appear to vary, however I cant imagine any car manufacturer exporting cars to Australia with or without rear belt mounting points, depending on the State for delivery. Heres a photo of my arch mounting point.

Hi Raoul, so highly likely its original fitting then, but presumably after delivery and to a BL spec. Probably long gone but would have been interesting to see BL belt fitting details The arch fitting is similar to UK.
