Yep, both connected internally and use the same oil. One plug drains both.

but it's a bu***r to get to the refill plug

If you jack the car up it helps to locate and undo the refill / level plug, however the car has to be on the level to ensure that you've got the correct volume of oil in the box / overdrive.

If you've got access to a ramp / hoist that will lift the car on the level then great, however if not I found the best way was:

        1) Drain the box
        2) Jack the car up on the left hand side.
        3) Locate and remove the refill plug
        4) Fill it with a little bit more than the correct volume.
        5) Lower the car and with it on the level allow any excess oil to come out.
        6) Jack it back up on the left hand side and reinsert/tighten level plug.

You may want to consider cleaning the filters in the overdrive but that's a different story !

        Good luck.

        Cheers

Or purchase a oil syringe as sold at places like Machine Mart. Mine holds 500ml. Then you can fill the gearbox by crawling underneath the car, inserting the tube in through the filler plug hole and pushing away at the syringe. Works a treat with no need to have the car jacked up. The only drawback is oil running down your arm! It also works great for the differential.

I did mine with an oil syringe but still had to follow the procedure I described

I just found there wasn't enough room to get under the car and get to the plug (and find it) without jacking it up. (and before anyone says anything, I'm not that big )

The only thing is that I was working on a gravel surface and so, if you're on tarmac, then it may be a bit easier.

            Cheers

                  I have one of these - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Produc...ign=Motorsport

a bit expensive I know but would not be without it. Must admit I got it years ago when I was doing off road racing and was pulling out diffs, shafts etc all the time so was doing a lot of changes!
