    Clutch Bleeding Problem

    All,

have converted from auto to MOD - new clutch master and slave cyl and new clutch pipe fitted, tried bleeding the clutch today but fluid not flowing freely through the pipe. Took the pipe off at the master cyl end to find the fluid was not coming through. There was some pressure from the cylinder but no fluid. Checked to see if the master cyl was leaking but couldn't spot anything.

Anyone got any ideas? Possibly a dodgy seal/diaphragm in the master cylinder?

    All ideas welcomed.

    Dave.

Sounds odd if it is a new cylinder. Suggest you take it off and send it back and ask for a replacement.

Try bleeding master cylinder , disconnect pipe where it comes out of cylinder , fill up the reservoir get somebody to push the pedal down and cover the hole with your finger when the pedal comes back up it should let fluid through to the cylinder , loosen your finger a bit and get the pedal pushed down again fluid shoud now come through. push finger tight in hole and let pedal up. Dont let it splash on the paint !

        Thanks for the responses.

I tried using my new toy - the Gunson Eezibleed to do both the brakes and the clutch which appears to have solved the issue. Still need to check on the correct rod length tho' as the clutch bites right at the bottom of the travel even after setting the rod in the uppermost hole. But at least she is moving now.

I finally managed to move the old girl off the drive and turn her round and drive her back into the garage. The first time she has moved under her own steam since 1991. How chuffed am I??

        VERY !!

My replacement slave cylinder had a rod that was too short - used the one from the old one (not much help to you!)
