    POR Paint Advice

    Afternoon folks
I know most of you will be out playing in the sun but I am in the Garage trying hard to get mine back on the road!
Having now replaced the floor panels and out riggers I am getting up to the painting stage. I have seam sealed all the edges and joins and etch primed much of the work to stop any flash rust. I am going to use POR paint underneath to protect everything and as this can be over painted I was wondering if anyone else had used this stuff and over painted with celly ?? Mainly as I am considering a coat of this on the inside of the floors and then coat with primer and top coat to finish the job off. I could of course leave this with just POR (black) as an alternative as this stuff is a very hard wearing finish and providing it not subject to daylight lasts well..
Has anyone any experience of this POR paint (from Frosts) and or any reaction to other paints like celly over the top of if. It does state it's overpaintable but from experience I like to check first.
    Appreciate any pointers
    Cheers
    Glyn

PS I'll post up some of the work I've done when I get chance as I have took loads of pictures for anyone facing the same or similar jobs.

Hiya, Stags came off the line with no finish colour on the underside, just a coat that looks like red oxide primer, it must be more than that because mine is still there after 37 years. Sorry, no knowledge of POR but it does have a good reputation. Martin.

No experience with POR but have just stripped my underside and used a Kent Product called Rubber Guard
Comes in an aerosol and give a great soft textured finish, product is excellent and used by the Pro's in a Ford Garage (mate runs the bodyshop). It also paints over.

      Cheers

Yes mine has that finish still in the bits I haven't changed, the main chassis rails are perfect once the underseal was shifted.
I was more interested in using this inside on the inner floor sections a base coat then primer and painting over it (although as I say I might just leave it black if iit looks ok) I have now applied the first coat on the underside and it seems to go on very well. I will probably over coat this with something like a waxy underseal or stone chip finish where required. It already looks better than 36 years of underseal and sh*te.
I'm quite pleased as I have just cleaned off about 1/2" of underseal and layers of paint off the o/s sill to reveal original paint and good metal. Breathed a sigh of relief as you never know what this underseal hides.
I this POR does allow painting over I'll use this on the lower part of the sill too as it will provide a good protection there as it's difficult to get the rust out of the spot welds connecting to the inner sill, and I have tried everything even the evil knotted brush on the grinder! Most of it is now showing good shiny metal, again not a bad result after 36 years.
Best get back to the garage and get painting

          Thanks Sparky
I'll look that up as I will want to add some stone chip protection on the underside after painting. I want to protect these new panels as good as I can from the off
