    pulley - help - please

I'm trying to get crankshaft pulley off, seems to be really stuck. Tried levering and tapping with hammer, tried puller but that just deforms the rubber insert, bit dubious about applying heat in case it damages the rubber insert. Out of ideas now. Anyone any other ideas??

    Thanks

    Hi John,

when I removed mine, I sprayed it liberally with WD40 - left for 24 hours then used a 3 leg puller and off it popped.

When the guys at Fav Classiccs removed the pulley on mine, they removed the timing quadrant and used a scaffold tube with the end flattened and levered it off. Mine came off easily, but I suspect that due to the method they employed that they can be stubborn.

Thanks Dave, sounds a bit drastic but unless anyone else comes up with something, I'll give it a whirl

i got mine off with a 3-foot pry bar - strategically place block of wood to lever on and off it came

Push the rear of the car against a wall and put into 1st gear. Then give it a go.
