The air filter housing on my Stag looks bad as the paint is flaking off. Does anyone know what paint is best to use to provide a durable finish in the original colour (or close)?

When I did the same job it was suggested I use Ford Dove grey as it was a close match to the original colour. I bought a can from Halfords and was very pleased with the result - the colour looks pretty good in my opinion, and is proving to be vry durable (2 years so far and no signs of flaking, fading etc).
Cheers,
Bob

No Bob, that's from history and observation ! Duck Egg Blue was the colour painted on the underside of most allied fighter aircraft in the European theatre, including the Spitfire. If you drop in at the TSSC clubhouse and museum, there's an old work bench painted in it, and an explanation. I believe the early prototype Spitfire was painted light grey. During the North African campaign, desert operating Spitfires were painted overall in pink, thank God there was none of that left ! Martin.Last edited by martin; 3 May 2011, 15:50.
