    Water Pump Rebuild Help

I have just finished the water pump rebuild, and happy with everything except the top seal to the impelller; it has a rubber end - should this be removed? I wouold have expected the white part undeneath to mate onto the impeller not the rubber?

    Hello Chris,

I hope I understand your inquiry correctly.

The white, ceramic seal is embedded into the impeller by milling out a recess into the underside of the impeller. The rubber part is only there to hold the bits together when shipped. It is simply thrown away later.
The top of the plastic seal thus is in direct contact with the ceramic seal.

    Best wishes,
    Dieter.

      Chris,

Read the blurb alongside this seal on LDparts website:

      It may help.

Ah yes thanks. When I ordered from LD Parts, I didnt think I had ordered the ceramic one, but I see this is dual purpose and can be used without the ceramic ring. Either way the rubber is to be discarded. I will have to machine the impeller again if I decide to keep the ceramic ring.
