Over the last few days I have finally tracked down a couple of Electrical probs I have been having.
Despite a new main and both sides of the body wiring looms being replaced the indicators, horns and the washer bottle would not work.
After a bit of research on the forum I read about the power of sugary teeth rotting drinks and soaked my fuse box in Coca Cola overnight and got the horn relay working.
Still no indicators or washers though. So I then dipped the tips of the plug ends of both the stalks in coke overnight which resulted in the Indicators sort of working, but still left the washers doing nothing. The bulb holders in the boot all needed their spade contacts cleaning with wet and dry to ensure proper contact was being made and finally had the Indicators flashing correctly.
I then pulled off the end of the washer stalk and found that the spring inside was going rusty and not making proper contact (looked like it had got wet and corroded) - so I changed it with a spring from an old damaged one and voila - washers now work too.
Electrics are such a nightmare - but it is soooo satisfying when you finally nail the little blighter that has been causing you so much pain.
