    PDWA Switch / Valve problem

    Have just finished fitting new front brake pipes and on bleeding the system I find that there is brake fluid leaking out from where the pin in the PDWA switch locates. What I can't make out is whether its the valve, switch or connector that is at fault. The inside of the connector block where it locates into the switch looks as if it is made of a rubber type compound - is this meant to form a seal of some kind or does the fault lie elsewhere?
    I've used DOT 5 fluid to refill the system and the car has been laid up for about 6 months now whilst the engine was being rebuilt there were no apparent problems in the past.
    Any ideas????

    The PDWA has a shuttle with o ring seals at both ends ,if fluid is coming out of the center part that the electrical connection comes from it sounds like one or both of the o rings are leaking. When the shuttle gets pushed one way due to an inballance in fluid pressure the shuttle shorts aganst the pin and makes the circuit to iluminate the warning light but no fluid should come out of that area.

        Hi all,
        My wiring to the red light on the dash is a but suspect, so have no idea if the shutte valve works properly.
        How can you tell if the shuttle is off centre if the light doesn't work?

          Take the switch out of the PDWA (don't worry, it won't leak) and poke around inside the hole with a small screwdriver. You should be able feel the narrow part of the shuttle valve in the centre of the hole. If it isn't you may be able to slide it so it is.
