    playing the banjo

    hi guys, now is it me or have anyone else had trouble with the banjo bolt on the type 35 auto gearbox leaking, i have carefully put new washers on the bolt, and some pte tape but it still leaks, any idea,s please. paul

    If it leaks with new copper washers then they could be too hard. Try annealing them. Alternatively you could use Dowty washers instead.

      Hi Paul,

      you will probably find that the bolt is stretched and not straight any more, you can see this if you put a steel rule along side it and the holes in the side of it look elongated. you may get away with fitting a couple of Dowty washers, (i think that's how you spell it) I think Robsport sell them. That's what I did, if not you need to source another bolt which are rarer than rocking horse S**T.

            I may have a couple you can have Paul but they are in the workshop at work, I'll have a look Monday. in the meantime can you measure the bolt O/D and let me know what it is if you have it removed, if not don't worry.

              There are 3 pages of them on Evilbuy. Various sizes but I don't know what size you need.

                hi guys , thanks for all the info , but i have now found my problem was not the washes but was the oil cooler feed pipe dripping down , i have now sealed it , job done .paul
