    New Job to do

ok so i pulled the passenger quater light out, not knowing how it fitted in either, a bit stiff i thought, still it came out, bu--er me, i think it has a clamp on it , now i'm taking the whole frame out just put it back in again.

is there any other way of doing this job without taking out the frame?

if the frame is comming out then i will strip the door, rust proof and repaint the inside of it.

The part it goes into Alan is held in by a couple of cross headed screws on the inside of the door. Just above this, there is a support tab that wraps around the quarterlight spindle. If you have been able to pull yours out, then it should go back in but to make it easier, remove the turning mechanism and you may be able to slip it back in without taking the frame out.

        Hi Alan

I have changed both quarterlight seals recently and did it by pulling out the quarterlight as you have done.
They were a bit stiff to pull out but they both came out without too much difficulty.

After I had changed the seals I put a touch of grease on the shafts to help them along and with a wiggle and a bit of pressure they went back in.
Important thing was to remember what angle of opening the quarterlights were at when they are pulled out as they will only go back in the same position.

          Hi Andrew,
thanks for the response, i did try that, and i just cant see what i'm doing so its all touch, i tried it but it just will not go back in again, it's not too big just feels that way, i have new door cards, so i might just strip the insides, repaint and then wax them anyway. At least i know where and what the bracket looks like now.
Thanks for the input and the diagram, it has helped a lot

            Hi Pete,

i took off the winding mech, so i had a clear run through, i think the bracket must be blocking it or even gripping it, grease sounds good, i will give it a go first see how i get on

            Thanks Pete
