Viscous coupling

I bought a new v/c last sept and it has seized, unfortunately this meant the crank bolt came undone and promptly ran itself through the radiator. I thought they generally failed by the bearing breaking up and not this quickly especially bearing in mind the car wasn't used much over the winter.
I am a bit p****d off to say the least as this will now mean a new rad and V/C, is there a specific make to look out for or is it just pot luck.

I would go for a genuine Holset make; they are still available new but the type may be slightly different. Try Bob Heritage; he has some similar Holset ones. Or get a genuine Holset used one. I am starting to collect the damn things to avoid having to buy unreliable pattern parts.

I bought mine from Paddocks and after the oil pump episode i am beginning to wonder if the quality of spares is as it should be.

Speak to them first as they are good guys and would want to know what has happens as they do care. They may honour some of the costs, especially if a radiator is involved.

I will phone them tomorrow and see what they say but i am going to get one from Bob anyway.
