There are been a few posts recently relating to ‘high’ advertised selling prices (e.g. £19K +) which got me wondering as to what the average selling price currently is.
I don’t know what other people’s opinions are but I would have guessed the average was between £5K and £7K for a nice usable Stag.
At lunch time I decided to do a little bit of research by having a quick look at the cars advertised on Piston Heads.
There were 42 cars listed of which 10 had been sold.
The highest was priced at £19,500 and the lowest £2,500.
The average ‘asking price’ worked out to be £10,222.
The ads were a mixture of dealer and private with probably a greater number of dealers than private advertisers. Although some may say that the £19,500 car has skewed the figures there were a number of cars for sale in the £12k to £14k range.
There is no doubt if I did the same using EBay as the source then I suspect the average would be a lot lower due to the higher number of private sales and of course it is 'Ebay'.
But, based on the Piston Head figures it would certainly suggest the value of Stags are certainly on the up.
