Fuel Leak - something worth checking on your car!

Hi Gerd,

The hoses used in the Stag fuel system are either 1/4" (6mm) or 5/16" (8mm) ID. The photo alongside "153151 on the RB website is 1/4" ID. Can't recall which size fits the fuel tank, but it should be easy to measure if you have the boot floor boards up. Just buy some rubber fuel hose of the right ID locally. Personally I would use worm drive clips (Jubilee or similar) and these are readily available from wherever you buy the hose.

thank you for answering. Then it should be easy to get the right hose and clips .
Will the full tank be a problem or should I expect only the residue out of the fuel hose?

Shouldn't be a problem as long as it isn't brim full.

One more piece of hose that has not been mentioned so far, and that is the one blanking off what was the return to the fuel tank on fuel injected Triumphs using the same tank. It is on the top of the tank, and if perished, will leak fuel into the boot area if the tank is topped right up. A short length of fuel hose, blanked off with an appropriately sized bolt and hose clip, is all that is needed to stop that smell of fuel in the boot.

Hi,

just a short update: Today I replaced the short fuel hose at the rear. A small piece of the fuel line that leads to the front broke off. So I had to fit a slightly longer piece of hose. But now everything seems to be tight. I also checked the hose in the front. I think I will exchange it during the winter.
