    Bude Motor Classic

    Hi all

Bude Motor Club will be holding its third classic motor show at the rugby ground close to the centre of Bude on Sunday June 5th.

As in the past the show is free to all entrants and visitors alike. With bar and food facilities the ground is situated next to the River Neet and is within walking distance of Bude's beautiful beaches. Exhibitors have in the last few years shown vintage, classic and modern vehicles.

Any money raised during the event will be donated to Shelterbox our chosen charity for 2011. If your in the area come along and exhibit your vehicle or just come out and see the fantastic cars on display.

For more information please visit www.budemotorclub.co.uk or www.budemotorclassic.co.uk

    See you there

      Hi Angus,

Quite a lot of Devon members are going here on Sunday: http://www.daat.org/motor-rally/

Hope the weather is good for both.......

How did the show at Bude go? Any pictures?

There were 5 Stags on Plymouth Hoe on Sunday for the BBC Radio Devon Car Rally in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, among over 100 other cars. The weather could have been better, but the area allocated was virtually full. Plenty of shiny trucks on view for the truck show in aid of Help for Heroes.

BBC's Guest of Honour was Mr Tiff Needell. He was signing books and judging the cars. He gave my Stag a glance and started to walk on by, so I suggested he at least show some interest. He stated that he didn't understand why the Stag had such a following in the classic movement! What!!!? So I let him have it: comfortable 4-seat tourer, superb Italian styling, 3-litre V8, etc. etc. He admitted he had forgotten they had a V8, then asked if they all had the same soft-top configuration! Pillock! I later suggested to David 'Fitz' Fitgerald (the BBC presenter who organised the show and who owns a superb 5.7-litre Dax Cobra) that he invited VB-H next year!

BTW, if I had a pound for every person who mention Stags Overheating and Rover engines, I could have covered the cost of fuel for the 90-mile round trip with some to spare! I even had one guy who insisted that Stags had a reputation for catching fire! Apparently he knew someone who had a Stag that did catch fire, so naturally they all did!

Dave, we went to a show once where Tiff Needell was promoting Porche, in the next field there was a stock car demo going on. One of the stock car guys got the paint pot out and wrote down the side of his car 'Tiff Needle' - he was not amused.
