Breather pipe from Fuel tank

I am really enjoying the new car - great drive. I am so grateful for the Forum - great advice and support from everyone.

One thing I am intrigued about is the breather pipe from the Fuel tank, is it normal for this to drip a bit if the car is recently filled (plus additive?) in this hot weather? I hope so as mine seems to be dripping a wee bit.

Hi I had this,but on closer inspection it was leaking around the breather pipe where it exits the the boot floor ended up being the petrol tank leaking I hope yours is not the same problem. good luck Graham

Oh ok thanks, hope not, I guess if it stops leaking that's the answer! I filled it up then added 1/3 of additive so guess up to maximum volume (fingers crossed!).

Actually - amateur, it is over filled and using breather pipe to escape the excess!

A belated welcome from me to the Forum and Stag ownership!

Whilst modern cars have pretty sophisticated fuel tank breathers and filling pipe arrangements, older cars, like the Stag, are more simple and basic.

Although I've not seen it on a Stag, I have seen an old car, that had just been filled and then left in the sun, ejecting about 1/4 gallon of petrol when it got hot and expanded - I think it may have actually started self siphoning
