    Give me a wave

If anyone should see a white Stag going northbound on the M1 and M6 tomorrow afternoon, give it a wave.

    Why?......

......Because it will be me - I've bought a Stag! and I'll be bringing it home tomorrow

    Regards

        Hi Peter

I look forward to seeing it out and about on our local roads. Seeing as you have purchased a primer coloured example, have you chosen what colour you will be painting it?

        Best wishes

Unfortunately not - The only way I've got to transport the hard top is to have it fitted on the car. I was amazed to discover that it would not fit in the rear of our estate car.

          Regards

              Now, now.

I understand that everyone thought that white was such a gorgeous colour there was no need to put a top coat on.

There actually isn't a colour that I dislike - I'm even not offended by Russet, Magenta or Java

I am curious though to find out how many Stags were made in what colour because it does seem that the majority I've seen are white.

              Regards

              Peter

You are on the money! How do you know - are you telepathic? Don't suppose you could give me the numbers for the lottery tomorrow by any chance?

Sorry, my mind is not working properly with all the excitement.

I've just amended the previous post because I realised I had mentioned it was white in my original post

I must go and have a lie down.

                  Regards

                  Peter

Hi Peter, still no photos and you've had the car a couple of days now - can we all assume you're too busy playing with your new toy to get the camera out?

                          Thom

I'll take some in the next few days, I promise. I drove it back on Saturday, but Sunday was very showery here in Cheshire.

I'm delighted with it, but still very much getting to know it.

I've already got "jobs to do" and I "things to buy" lists, both of which are hidden away from the wife

I'll try to post some photos, and give some history of it during this weekend. In the meantime, let me tell you that it has had a engine rebuild at HRS, a body restoration at E J Wards, new auto gearbox, torque converter - there are reciepts for just over £21k since 2003. It has done less than 6,000 miles since.

It came with three files full of reciepts, brochures and history which is providing me with much reading matter. Included are mint condition Triumph leaflets, colour charts and accessory lists.

On the "things to do list" are to repaint the hardtop (it was not included in the restoration and apparently was never fitted to the car during the last owner's nine years ownership), swap the 'orrible Motolita wheel for a standard one, get rid of the unsightly modern CD player, and replace the light coloured (burr elm?) dashboard.

...and give it a damn good polish.

                          Regards

                          Peter

                            Hi Peter

If you are looking to replace the dashboard etc it might be worth your while getting in contact with Nantwich Veneer who supply Bentley. They did the dash for our GT6. I was able to pop in and select the specific piece of veneer that would be used on our car. Ask for Steve.

                            Regards
