[QUOTE=al-stag;143110]"....... but no substitute for your mate helping you get the engine in or out ....., .................."

Er no! Not unless your mate can provide advice such as RogerP (I think) did a little while ago about easier removal and refit of a Stag engine and gearbox by raising only the back of the car on ramps.

I found the forum invaluable on several subjects, and after fitting a new wiring loom but still having issues with getting all the electrics to work correctly, I posted the question and received several answers including dipping the parts in coca cola to remove the furring on the brass parts. This I duly did and everything started springing to life.

I mentioned this to a few of my mates who were astounded about the coke fact. None of them even thought about it - but it was of course the forum that had supplied the answers.

Well I have not posted much on here. My Stag is a very long-term restoration project, so I have not yet needed much advice or help. But having visited the forum much more lately and having begun to get a little bit involved, this is a fantastic resource! When the time comes for me to pick up the reins of my Stag project once again, I know that I shaall be on here either searching previous threads or starting my own and asking a lot of questions.

I still appreciate the company of a good friend whilst working on my car, though, just as he does mine when he is working on his car or motorcycle. The two issues are not related in any way, in my most humble opinion.

You guys and girls are really brilliant!

Having been a Stag Owner for less than a month, I have found the forum invaluable. There is a wealth of information on just about any subject relating to repairing, maintaining and running a Stag. I have learnt so much just by searching or by asking and look foward to the day when I can provide an answer to someone else.

Having said that, I am in the process of replacing my alternator (for which all the knowledge has come from this forum) but I am sure having someone to help could have made the job so much easier and faster - having to swap between being under the car and over the car to fit and turn inaccessible bolts while supporting the alternator with one hand is very frustrating.

The Soc club and forum has opened new doors for me, i am learning more things everyday one example Stagmuffin Steve gave up 4 hours of his time helping me remove my engine block i live in Northampton and Steve in Bedford,

I have been in contact with Diana and Barry Brown with getting the forum badges and have made loads of friends here and via Facebook. May the good work continue.

                Cheers
