    Hi,

I do not have a drawing or know where the bolt holes go, but I know a man who does.

My Stag is currently in E J Ward getting a respray and they are also going to fit three inertia seat belts in the back for the kids.

They said that they fix them with the belt pulling from the bottom rather than the top and find this works best.

Give them a call and I am sure they will be able to help you.

        Hi Gary

Got the camera charged up and got out to the garage at last.

Here's some pics of my Stag's rear seatbelt installation. Fitted before Igot the car so can't guide you through the work required.

I've read comments that the strut towers aren't strong enough to take the load in a severe impact, but inertia 3 point belts have got to be better than just lap belts or badly adjusted fixed belts.

These pull from the bottom also, which takes some getting used to, but I use them for both my6 and 9 year oldboys with a booster and achild seat.

        Hope picshelp.

        Andy

Does anyone know the thread size for the Seat belt fixing nuts inside the rear wheel arch - taken out the rubber grommets but can't fit the bolt that came with the seat belts?

                Thanks

                Gary

Gary, I would like to fit rear belts too but cannot find a supplier locally - Halfords, motor factors etc don't have them. Any suggestions? Web site? Hope you or someone else can help.
                  Regards
                  Robbie

                    Hi Gary

Not sure if you are aware but the Mk2 cubby panels have a cut-out for the rear seatbelt. You just need to cut and trim the vinyl covering. I fitted Mk2 cubbies to my Mk1 so I could use these cut-outs. The reel is then fitted to the leading edge of the wheel arch so the belt can feed straight through the panel. This is the reason for the smaller pockets on the Mk2.

Otherwise the fixings are as per Andy's car. Make sure the attachment on the tower goes through the reinforced part in line with the shock absorber. If you don't use the original reelmounting point on the arch you willneed to fit a reinforcing plate on the back of the fixing. I have only found half of the instructions which don't show any more than the photos already posted. If I find themI will forward them to you.

                    Pete

                        Hi Pete

Yes i new of the cut out's - i picked up some rear guides from an Audi - they fit great (will post some pics) but as i mentioned i am trying to fit the std seat belt bolts into the existing fixing points (as yours on the bottom of the wheel arch) but cant get them to fit - do you know the thread of the wheel arch fixing points?

                        Regards

                        Gary

You can put more than one picture in a post (see my example on oil cooler thread), but you'll need toenter the code yourself rather than use the insert image option.

For each image enterthetext below (highlighted in red)without any space: [shadow=red][img][/shadow] thenthe web address and file name where your image is located e.g. [shadow=red]http://www etc...[/shadow]....and end with [shadow=red][/img][/shadow]

Repeat on a seperate line foreach image to want to insert

I'm not sure what the image size restrictions are on this site, but if doesn't work you might need to reduce the size of the images.

                            Hi Gary

I didn't use the original arch mounting as it is in a different position on the Mk1 so I'm not sure what the original thread size is. I can't get to them to find out with the trim in place.

Also, having just looked in the car the mounting on the strut tower should be in line with the shock absorber. There is a void in the double skinning in the area forwards of this. I'll amend the earlier posting.
