    Headlight upgrade kit not fitting

    Just wondering whether anybody else has had problems with replacement headlights where the lugs in the headlights don't seem to match up with the notches on the chrome locating ring.

    I managed to fit 2 out of the 4 replacements but absolutely no joy with the others, will try again tonight just to ensure I wasn't being an eejit, before I call Wards.

    Are the headlight units all the same or perhaps nearside and offside pairs and I've been sent 4 all the same ?

    Cheers

    Hi Paul Main Beam and Dipped Beam lights have the locating lugs in slightly different positions, i.e. a main beam lens has to be fitted in a main beam back bowl etc, check what you have been sent when I got my car it had 4 main beams in it!!! and a recent new MOT!!!!!

      Replacement Headlights

      Not sure if the following information from the LD Parts website applies to your problem but it maybe worth a look:

      It explains what is required to get the lugs to fit when using replacement head lights.

          Thanks for confirming this - I didn't realise the dip / main fittings were just that little bit different. With the LDPart info confirming this all yet further, I'm happy to chop away !

          One more question on this if I may, the original wiring entered the headlight bowls through a conical grommet but with 3 (rather than 2) wires and thicker too I don't think it will go. My own thoughts on a solution are ;

          a) Carefully drill out a bigger hole through the grommet so the new wiring fits and perhaps seal up with sealant too
          b) Use suitable sized blanking grommet and drill a tight hole for each wire to ensure a good close fit

          (I'm refitting the spade connectors afterwards)

          How has this been solved by others ?

          Cheers again

            I would just trim the grommets back a little so the cables pass through.

              I drilled out a bigger hole fitted new grommet and a bit of sealant (windscreen)
