Buying of spares and service items

This may be an old chestnutbut reading some of the posts of members asking for advise of where to buy spares etc, the members of the forum seem unable to repond to their requests for reccomendations. I can understand that all have to be careful , but could we have a system like (tripadvisor where people score their experiences of traders and traders have a right of reply), this also gives a % rating so all could read and make up their own mind.
We would always get gross negative and postive reviews but we would all get a feel from the comments and replies who offers the best service and value for money.
I think i would find this useful when i find my stag.

maybe it's for a discussion at the AGM ?

It wouldn't a club view but a forum one, but there was an excellent poll that said it all and I will try and find it unless I am beaten to it as I cant remember what it was titled. It is just what you want and maybe it could be updated

Not sure how you feel forum members are unwilling to share their personal view on good suppliers....... there are plenty of threads where people will mention their personal favorites - the poll which Andrew has shared is a pretty fair summary of most comments

you could be waiting a very long time for an 'official' SOC recommendation though - most Car Clubs adopt a similar position

Ive personaly found that all supplyers have strenghs and weaknesses hence why they are still in businesses,points as follows

1,Different supplyers stock different parts not all parts avaible from one supplyer

2,speed of delivery quicker from some than others

3,telephone enquires more helpfull from some than others

If we were to use this forum to the detriment of supplyers of parts for our cars it would be an abuse of what should be a tool to keep our cars on the road and continued vast supply of parts avaible for our veichles

This is the best forum i have ever had the pleasure to be part off i think we should be carefull how we use it
